Most parents think braces are a teenage thing — but the first orthodontic check should happen by age 7. At that age, enough adult teeth have come in for us to spot bite problems early, when they're easiest to correct.
What we look for
- Crowding or gaps in the front teeth
- Crossbites, overbites and underbites
- Thumb-sucking or tongue-thrust habits affecting jaw growth
- Early or late loss of baby teeth
Phase 1: Early treatment (ages 7–10)
Sometimes we use small appliances or partial braces to guide jaw growth and create space for adult teeth. This can shorten or even eliminate the need for full braces later.
Phase 2: Full braces (ages 11–14)
Once most adult teeth are in, full braces or clear aligners straighten the smile and perfect the bite.
Why early matters
Catching issues early often means simpler, shorter, less expensive treatment — and a better result. Book a no-pressure orthodontic check at age 7.
